It can be very fulfilling to start you own “Internet Home Business”. It offers the hope of financial security and the challenge of doing something new.
To be successful in your Internet Home Business many claim that you only have to work a few hours a week. But the reality is that it does require some serious commitment. By serious commitment I mean are you willing to spend some of your leisure time each day to building your business, because if you don’t practice good time management it will consume a large portion of your time.
It is only when your business is established that yes… you can spend less time making more money.
When you first start out you should spend at least 2-3 hours on research and development of your website or blog. You also need to commit more time to learn this new skill especially if you are not tied down to a day job or other obligations.
The hardest trap not to fall into believe it or not, is spending too much time on your computer. You will find that there is always something to do or a new thing to learn or one more email to check etc. When you think about it the reason you are looking into an internet home business is to spend more time with your family.
If you are not careful you may be consumed by your business and before you know it you may find you don’t have time for anything else. In real estate they always say location, location, location. Well in the internet business world it’s discipline, discipline, discipline.
To help you discipline your time I offer these few tips.
1. If you are doing this full time treat it like a 9 to 5 job and take the weekends off to spend time with your family and friends. The business will still be there Monday. This will prevent burn out both for you and your family.
2. If you want to work on your business 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 hours a day make sure you have a start time and a finish time and stick to it. You will always have the excuse that there is just one more thing to do and before too long it’s way past midnight.
3. Make sure you have family time… Like I said before “isn’t this the reason you started this business in the first place?” Set aside a couple of hours for dinner with the family or assisting the kids with home work. Make this a regular scheduled time each day, after all you would do it if you worked a 9 – 5 job.
4. Remember this is not a race… it’s your internet home business.
Time management is critical for your success in this business. You can be dedicated to your internet home business but your family should be first priority. In other words make time for your spouse, children, parents and friends while you still have them.
To your success
